Delivery & Access
Yes. Cold Space delivers and collects fridge trailers across Leicester, Leicestershire and surrounding areas, bringing the refrigerated trailer directly to your premises or venue.
We will discuss the intended location before delivery to make sure there is suitable access.
No. The trailer is delivered and collected by Cold Space.
This allows us to make sure it is transported and positioned safely at the agreed location.
The overall trailer footprint is approximately:
4.5 metres long including the drawbar and rear step
2.5 metres wide
2.6 metres high
The trailer also provides approximately 9 cubic metres of internal storage space.
Additional room should be allowed for manoeuvring, opening the rear doors and safely loading and unloading stock.
A firm and reasonably level surface is best.
Suitable locations may include tarmac, concrete, hardstanding or sufficiently firm ground that can safely support the trailer and towing vehicle.
If you are unsure whether your proposed location is suitable, let us know before delivery.
Tell us about any access restrictions when booking.
Useful information includes:
- Narrow entrances
- Gates
- Height restrictions
- Tight turns
- Restricted parking areas
- Soft or uneven ground
If possible, photographs of the access and proposed trailer location can also be helpful.
Power & Supply
The fridge trailer requires access to a suitable electrical power supply to operate correctly. Power requirements can vary depending on the setup and location, so we recommend speaking to Cold Space before delivery to make sure the appropriate supply is available.
Yes, the fridge trailer can be used with a suitable generator where mains power is not available. The generator must be capable of providing a stable and sufficient power supply for the refrigeration unit. If you are planning to use a generator, please let us know in advance so we can advise on the setup before delivery.
Cooling time depends on several factors, including the outside temperature, starting temperature inside the trailer and how frequently the doors are opened.
The refrigeration system is designed to bring the trailer down to its operating temperature efficiently, but it should be allowed to cool before large quantities of warm stock are loaded.
If you have a time-sensitive requirement, ask us about setup and cooling when booking.
The most important thing is to make sure the agreed location is clear and accessible.
You should also ensure the required electrical supply is available close enough to the trailer's intended position.
For emergency deliveries, having the area cleared before arrival helps us get the trailer into position more quickly.
Temperature & Refrigeration
The GOVI refrigeration unit can be adjusted to maintain temperatures from approximately 0°C to +10°C.
This makes the trailer suitable for a wide range of chilled food, drink and other temperature-sensitive products.
No. Cold Space currently provides a refrigerated chiller trailer, rather than a freezer trailer.
The unit operates at approximately 0°C to +10°C and should not be used where frozen storage temperatures are required.
Yes. The refrigeration system has adjustable temperature controls within its operating range.
If you have products that require a particular storage temperature, discuss this with us when arranging the hire.
The trailer is primarily designed to maintain chilled products at the required temperature, rather than rapidly chilling large quantities of warm stock.
Where possible, products should already be appropriately chilled before being placed inside.
Storage & Internal Space
The trailer provides approximately 9 cubic metres of internal refrigerated space.
The amount of usable storage will depend on the size and type of products being stored and whether the internal shelving is being used.
Yes. Internal racking can be used to organise boxes, food, drinks and other smaller products.
The shelving also helps maintain space around stored items so chilled air can circulate effectively.
Yes.
The internal racking can be removed when additional open floor space or full internal height is required for larger items.
Let us know what you intend to store and we can discuss the most practical configuration.
Do not pack products tightly against the internal walls or refrigeration equipment.
Cold air needs room to circulate around the stock to maintain an even temperature throughout the trailer.
Leaving sensible gaps between products and avoiding overloading will help the refrigeration system operate effectively.
You should avoid packing the trailer so tightly that airflow is restricted.
The refrigeration system needs space to circulate cold air around the stored products, particularly around the walls and refrigeration unit.
Using the Trailer
The doors should only remain open for as long as reasonably necessary.
Leaving them open for extended periods allows warm air into the trailer and makes the refrigeration system work much harder to restore the required temperature.
For larger loads, it is usually better to organise stock before opening the doors so loading can be completed efficiently.
The internal temperature will naturally rise each time the doors are opened.
The GOVI refrigeration unit is designed to recover the temperature after normal use, but keeping door openings short will help maintain a more consistent internal temperature.
Yes.
The refrigerated trailer can remain operating throughout the night where required, provided the appropriate power supply remains connected.
Yes. The trailer is suitable for temporary chilled storage of food and drinks when used appropriately.
Customers remain responsible for making sure their products are stored at the correct temperature and in accordance with any food safety requirements that apply to their business.
